It's that time of year again, the Melbourne Cup! And today we have what is becoming a bit of a tradition on the 'i do' it yourself blog, our cup picks - for hats, headbands and fascinators that is. Firm favourites for the races and weddings. We love putting this collection together, partly because of all the great designs we find and partly because we just like making racing puns. Im sure you're all chomping at the bit to see what we've found this year so without any further ado...

Boutonnieres are great little DIY projects to tackle for a wedding. Not too time consuming, and if you're not using fresh flowers, a great keepsake. We think this style is just perfect for an outdoor wedding. And so much fun to put together you'll be insisting on more groomsmen just so you can make more!

This month we fell in love with Feathered Designs pretty bridal accessories, like this lovely feather fascinator with French tulle, skeleton leaves and vintage jewellery. We were gob smacked with this amazing dress from Hope and Scotts beautiful black and white wedding, photographed by Callib Photography. Remember our bokeh blog post from last year? If you don't have a queen handy to lend you a tiara, how about making one? There are some beautiful ideas for beaded tiaras, but this project is a little different, building a wire frame and then gluing crystals to it. We hope you enjoyed this months blue willow theme, it's one of those things thats been on the 'to do' list for ages and I'm so pleased how it all turned out. It seems results were pretty much split down the middle with almost half of couples choosing to send their invites 1-2 months before the wedding. The other half 3-4 months, and just a handful choosing over 5 months before.
