Well last month just got so crazy round here we decided to take a little break from blogging. But this month we're back and as promised here is something new and gorgeous. Our Great Gatsby inspired wedding.

How amazing is this dessert table, and it just goes to show simple ideas are often the best. Just cut out some trees from black craft paper and add in a few store bought halloween silhouettes of bats and owls - or make your own. The whole spooktacular set up can be found on Hello Brielle. We thought we'd kick off our subway inspired wedding theme this months with some real life inspiration. What we love about this wedding is that it's not New York, it's not Chicago - it's Newcastle, Australia. It just goes to show that you can get that vintage urban look in any city. All you need are some cool cars, funky locations and a clever photographer.
Loren and Ben we're lucky enough to have all three. They hired some classic cars for the day and headed out onto the streets for a fabulous photoshoot with Simone Darcy Photography. A stop for coffee provided a great location, plus how cool and laid-back does Loren look with that takeaway latte? Graffiti covered side streets are the perfect spot to stop and pose, that fantastic juxtaposition of grungy concrete with Loren's beautiful dress and cute white jacket.
So get out and explore the side streets around your venue, you never know what you might find.
There's no need to escape to the country for your big day, head underground for the ultimate urban affair. This month we'll take our inspiration from the subway sign art craze.

It's a new year and love is definitely in the air. This month we're taking inspiration from the past, from a time when the height of glamour and romance was air travel.
It's probably the biggest photo prop you're likely to come across - the airplane - but it's perfect for destination weddings, a military wedding and for couples who met on a plane or just like to travel.
Airport runways have been transformed into ceremony locations, hangers make the ideal reception venue and some couples are even getting married in flight. Aviation weddings are really taking off!

There's something about the white anemone flower that just oozes style. With it's black or deep blue centre, no wonder it pops up at so many weddings. A member of the buttercup family, anemones actually come in a variety of colours from bold reds to pretty purple, but white is probably the most popular choice for weddings.
Anemones are seasonal flowers, available in Australia in the winter. If you're considering working with them for your bouquet or decorations remember they can appear dried out quite quickly so they will need to be hydrated as soon as possible. Trim around 2cms off their stems at an angle, under a running tap, this will help them to soak up the water. Place into cold water right away and refresh it every day using a preservative or sugar. The anemone stem is hollow and quite brittle so when selecting your flowers watch for crushed or cracked stems and avoid yellowing leaves.
The word damask actually refers to many warp-faced and weft-faced reversible textiles and has been in existence since the early Middle Ages.
But today when referring to damask we generally think of the classic black and white ornate pattern. It conjures up a feeling of opulence and luxury, which has made damask a popular choice for weddings. So with the royal wedding still fresh in our minds its the perfect theme for this month as we look at some great DIY projects to get the regal look on a budget.
