Pic Via Hostess with the Mostess |
If you are feeling a little more adventurous you can even make your own cocktail umbrellas! Check out this great tutorial on Martha Stewart.
I've been a big fan of painting ceramics for years now, ever since I discovered some fabulous paints which do away with the need for a kiln. So I'm very pleased to finally bring to life a great wedding DIY project using Pabeo Procelaine paint.
All you will need is the paint or pen, an oven, and a plain white plate for each guest. These can be picked up relatively cheaply in bulk at kitchen supply shops, or try your local discount store.
Simply paint your guests name on each plate. You can be as creative as you like, just write the name or decorate it with patterns or flowers to tie in with your wedding decor.
Then the best bit - bake them in an oven at 150°C for 30-35 minutes and ta da! The plates now have glossy names with excellent resistance to dishwashing and normal detergent, so your guests can even take their personalised plates home.
Add some beautiful bling to your wedding day with simple spray painted gum leaves. Great for decorations, scatter them on tables or use them as gorgeous place cards with guests names written on. It's so easy. Collect fallen gum leaves and spray paint with a white undercoat. (You can leave some leaves like this is you want to mix colours up a bit.) Once dry spray paint with a top coat of either silver or glitter silver spray paint.
You can finish off by painting or use a gel pen to write guests names on each leaf to use as a beautiful alternative to tradition tented place cards.

You will need:
sheets of A4 red card
a pencil
scissors
double sided sticky tape
sticky tape
strips of white card stock
DIY project:
1. Sketch a spiral taking up the full width of your A4 piece of paper. You'll want the space between each line to be about 2cm, the bigger the space the bigger the rose.
2. Cut your spiral out following the lines you have sketched.
3. Starting from the outside, fix the end with a piece of double sided sticky tape and begin rolling the spiral up.
4. When you have finished rolling fix the other end with more double sided sticky tape and let the roll loosen a little to form your rose.
5. With your guests names carefully written or printed onto the strips of white card, stick a name to the bottom of each rose.

Here's something a little bit different for your wedding table - pop up placemats. The delicate cut-out images come in a range of amazing designs from hearts to butterflies and look simply beautiful. You can even write your guest's name on the pop up section for a stylish place card.
