Today Dear September are going to share a couple of their favourite DIY styling ideas for your reception tables. Don't forget to enter this months blog competition for your chance to win a set of cute vintage glass vases to get you started.
For a really pretty place setting, give each guest their own mini vase. Mismatch your flowers to add the eclectic look. Its great if you have a big table and you can spread out the decoration rather than have one large centre piece.
Another great idea is to recycle any glass jars you have and pop tea light candles in them. Cluster all your jars in the middle of the table, or in a row down the centre, it’s simple but effective!

In this month poll we're asking you to vote on your favourite wedding trend for 2012, and the watercolour ombre effect is doing pretty good. So we thought we'd share this lovely idea for a table decoration from Full House. A very simple idea, circles punched out from various shades of card stock, but so effective.
With Halloween just around the corner we thought we'd share a super cute free download today. These little trick or treat party circles are an easy DIY project. Perfect for October weddings, use them as cupcake toppers or gift tags for goodie bags filled with sweets! Or just use them at your Halooween party.
Available as a free download in the new 'i do' it yourself shop.

A venue teaming with freshly cut flowers will certainly add to the opulence of a wedding - but it will also add to the costs. Fear not! These pictures aren't of bunches of white chrysanthemums, they are in fact tissue paper pomanders, and on mass can be pretty effective. Suspend them from the ceiling or display them as table centrepieces. There is a very simple step by step to follow over on Project Wedding.
Go tropo with loads of colour and fun for your beach wedding decorations!
Try a stunning tropical fruit centerpiece like this one from Martha Stewart. Melons, pineapples, and other tropical fruit are set in a carved out log with orchids and citrus leaves. This beach theme cake topper is so cute! Handmade from clay by Anna Crafts its also lovely to keep long after the wedding. Colourful cake and parasols perfect for photo props, both by Jason Angelini Photography. Pretty rainbow paper hearts by MGM Art Supplies. For wedding favors how about these funky felt gift bags from Elegant Weddings or totally adorable swimsuit cookies, by The Flour Pot! And of course the humble cocktail umbrella which we've already shown you some great decorating ideas for.
To finish up the month we've got a great little DIY wedding project using some fantastic light boxes. There are all sorts of uses for them, coming in three sizes and flat packed so they are easy to transport. Today we are going to add a little Parisian chic with an Eiffel Tower silhouette to act as a table number.
What you need
Large light box
Black card paper
Scissors or craft knife
Sticky tape
Tea light candle
DIY project
Step 1. The large light boxes measure 12 x 28 cm so we are going to make our Eiffel Tower template just a little smaller, 11 x 27 cm. This is available as a free download on our website. (click here to visit)
Step 2. Cut out four Eiffel Towers in the black card for each light box
Step 3. Instead of the middle arch on the tower we are going to put the table number, use a stencil or draw the number and cut it out using your craft knife. Repeat this for the other three towers.
Step 4. The lightboxes come with little internal supports to help keep their shape, so tuck your Eiffel Towers between these at the bottom and with just a little sticky tape secure the top. Pop in your tea light candle and your done! Viola!
Dim the lights and raise the curtain on a romantic wedding spectacular! Set the scene with sparkling gold details, pink ruffles and feathers and a dash of dramatic black.

Add some feathered fun with a pretty pink wreath $40 from Thoughts of Home, or feathered table centrepieces by Fantasy Celebrations.
Using black with the soft romantic pinks and creams is a great contrast and adds a little more drama to the decor, pic from Martha Stewart. Ballet shoes and pumps make pretty decorations and photo props, pic via Style Me Pretty.
Don't forget the treats! Cookies from a gorgeous Nutcracker Suite inspired dessert bar via Hostess with the Mostess. Black might not be first in mind when you think about wedding cake, but this stunning black and pink combination certainly makes a statement. And forget fruit cake, how about this delicious tiramisu wedding cake! (pics unknown)
Here's a super cute idea to identify wedding tables - use an old postcard to represent each table rather than a number. You can frame them or use a table sign holder. Quick and easy and a little quirky.

We were recently asked the question, 'why do I need a seating chart at my wedding'? While its true many brides to be are steering away from some of the more formal wedding traditions, a seating chart doesn't have to be stuffy and boring! In fact it can be a great opportunity to add a little style or humour to your wedding day.
We've been busy little bees this month designing some fabulous new printable wedding reception seating charts, so you're guests can find their way in style:
The retro plane is perfect for a travel or destination wedding. Designed to look like an airplane seating plan, guests names are shown on each seat along with their table number. Shown here in blue and red but available in any colour to match your wedding scheme.
If you love that chalkboard look this beautiful wedding seating chart is designed to look just like a bistro menu but its a printable poster! (And rather than displaying meals and prices, it shows your guests' names and table number.) With a lovely aged, dusty chalkbaord background, the fonts even look as though they have been handwritten in chalk too.
Add an element of fun to your wedding with a clever seating chart. Guests find their initials designed to look like an abbreviated element - their table number is shown above, just like it's atomic number! Guests full names are also shown to avoid any confusion. It even comes in the shape of a periodic table that has been handrawn with biro onto grid paper. A really fun and unusual way to show your guests to their seats!
All available in the i do it yourself shop starting from $50.
